Anti-Social Behaviour / Door Kicking Challenge |
||
|
Police have received reports of ongoing anti-social behaviour at a residential address in Belmont. A resident's Ring doorbell camera captured a group of four young people kicking the front door of their home before running away. This is not the first time a similar incident has occurred at the property in recent weeks. This behaviour has understandably caused distress to the family, particularly their young children, who were frightened by the disturbance during the hours of darkness. The resident believes the behaviour may be linked to a social media trend known as the "Kick Door Challenge", which has reportedly been circulating on online platforms such as TikTok.
๐ Crime Prevention Advice Residents are reminded to take the following steps to help protect themselves and assist with any investigation: Speak with neighbours and encourage them to report similar incidents, as multiple reports help build a clearer intelligence picture.
๐ If you witness a crime in progress or feel threatened, contact police immediately via 999.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ Message to Parents and Young People What may seem like a harmless prank or social media trend can cause genuine fear and distress to residents, particularly children, elderly people and other vulnerable members of the community. Those involved may also be committing criminal offences and could face police action. We encourage parents, carers and schools to have open and honest conversations with young people about social media challenges and the real-world consequences of engaging in behaviour that causes fear, alarm or distress to others. Please respect your neighbours and the wider community to help keep our neighbourhoods safe, welcoming and free from anti-social behaviour.
